As many things in this Valley change, TYP recently followed-suit. I met with our stakeholders Monday night sharing core ideas of how this group can grow and thrive. Two themes rose out of that and previous discussions:
1) more social and business networking functions
2) broaden TYP’s outreach to the community

Last Thursday, a few TYP members and I were lucky enough to attend the San Jose Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce’s ‘Women in Leadership’ dinner at the Doubletree Hotel.
To put it simply, the event was inspiring. As a female young professional, it can sometimes be tough to find women in powerful leadership roles to look up to. However, there was no shortage of such significant women at this dinner. Led by chamber CEO and President Pat Dando, the event focused on celebrating women leaders and developing those of tomorrow. Being present in a room filled with such enthusiasm and encouragement was inspiring.

Our first Town Hall meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 21 at the Chamber of Commerce (101 W. Santa Clara Street). We’ll be discussing the role of higher education in today’s economy and your participation will help identify and discuss key ideas around this pressing issue.
Pat Dando, president & CEO of the Chamber will moderate the discussion on topics such as higher education’s impact on different generations, area-of-study diversity, job placement and retaining locally grown talent.
Panelists, representing 4 different generations, include:
- Dr. David Steele, dean of the college of business at SJSU
- Adam Ferguson, attorney at Pelosi & Ferguson
- Bill Neufeld, owner of Express Employment Professionals
- Shara Hedge, founder of Cornerstone Academy Preparatory School
Registration opens at 5:30pm with the Town Hall meeting beginning at 6:00pm. Food will be provided by Wing Stop. To register, visit the SVSJ Chamber Calendar of Events.

Welcome to the Web site of the San Jose Today’s Young Professionals group. TYP is part of the San Jose Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce, dedicated to the personal, professional and community growth of the TYP generation in Silicon Valley.
The goal of our group is to connect, develop and grow; it’s my personal goal to provide an online forum to achieve this through this Web site. It will play host all things TYP:
- TYP - who we are, what we’re doing and where we’re going
- events – schedules, information, sign-ups and post-event info (like photos and videos)
- blog – up-to-date information on what TYP is doing, and what individual TYPs are doing
Just like our events, we aim to provide rich, useful and fun content that is representative of and relevant to our generation.
- Jack Wimberly, Chair of TYP
